I'm Back!

I've been MIA for over a week now. I haven't blogged about Mother's day, my new laptop gone wrong, my weekly Instagram photos and other fun quirky toddler things.

I'll start off this blog with the new laptop gone wrong since that is what has been holding back from blogging. About a month ago I bought a new MacBook Air. I LOVED it. I've always been a Mac lover at heart. My first computer that I bought myself was an eMac when I was in college and doing design work for my degree.

Once I became a web programmer I switched back to PC because it made it easier to log into work from home and it was in our budget. That laptop started dieing a year ago and I've fought with it off and on. Last month it was finally replaced.

At first the Air was great. BUT THEN slowly but surely my internet connection slowed to a crawl and wouldn't connect in certain places in my house. After a while the only place I could get connection was in the basement. I did a bunch of research and found that my the wireless issues are pretty wide spread and Apple refuses to acknowledge that the issue is their fault. I tried different things suggested to resolve the issue and it was working.

I wanted to keep my Mac very badly. I debated on returning for another one BUT I would be risking getting another one with the same problem. I don't have time to deal with problems like these. Zero patience and zero energy.

Sooooo imagine the surprise of the Best Buy employees as I walked in there today and exchanged my Mac for a PC. As I was waiting for different things during the exchange process random employees were wandering up and asking me, "What's wrong with the Mac Air?", "Why are you returning the Mac Air?", "Don't you just want to exchange it?" I felt like I was the only person in the world that would be trading in a Mac for a PC.... but for me.... a laptop is for using wherever you want not wherever you get connection!

Now I'm back to being connected with my Dell XPS and so far I'm loving it. More blogs to come soon!

  1. I've been an Apple fan since my first Apple ][, I retired my first generation Air a month ago for a new MacBook. I've never had a hardware issue. Ever.

    1. I thought about upgrading to a MacBook Pro but that wasn't in the budget and we have a workhorse desktop for doing major work and storage so I didn't NEED that kind of laptop. I keep going back and forth about whether or not I should have traded it in for another Air but I did the right thing. :)

  2. So if your budget was very generous, which would you choose?

    1. Most likely a high end MacBook Pro :)

And really that's a maybe.... I really like the lightweight and thin feel of the Air and the Dell XPS. Makes it easy. My last lap top was a 17in Dell Inspiron and while I LOVED it... it was huge and bulky and heavy. We have the work horse desktop downstairs with the huge monitor if I need major work done.

  3. Welcome back! I love my Mac, but sometimes I did have connection problems with my old MacBook. New one (which is actually a used one) is fine so far.

  5. I have a PC and much like any kind of relationship, it's more because of habit and familiarity. My sister has a MAC and loves it. For me, whatever works! Glad to see you're back! :-)
